The Only Way to Heaven

To my children,

There’s a day coming when each person will stand before God, and He will judge them according to their works. Nobody is guaranteed to live another day. And if that day should come upon you unexpectedly, where will you go after you die? In this life, we are faced with many questions and decisions. However, the most important being, will my eternal soul go to heaven or hell? Do not be deceived, but both places are very real. The good news is that God gives us the answer in the Bible.

1. Recognize that we’re all sinners.

Sin is a transgression against God’s law, and the Bible tells us that all have sinned:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

Romans 3:23 KJV

“Wherefore as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

Romans 5:12 KJV

The Bible exempts no one. You, me, and everybody else has sinned. It is written, “There is none righteous, no, not one…there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10-12)

2. A just God will not overlook sin.

God is holy, righteous, and just and cannot ignore our crime. He must punish us for breaking His law.

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Hebrews 9:27 KJV

“For the wages of sin is death…”

Romans 6:23 KJV

“But the…unbelieving…shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Revelation 21:8 KJV

3. A loving God provided the payment for our sin.

The good news is that God provided His Son to pay the penalty of our sin for us. Jesus came into this world, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sin, and rose again three days later.

“…and without shedding of blood is no remission (forgiveness).”

Hebrews 9:22 KJV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16 KJV

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8 KJV

4. Eternal life is a gift from God.

Eternal life is to live forever. It’s a gift that must be freely received. It cannot be bought or earned.

“…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 6:23 KJV

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV

5. Receiving this gift is simple.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Romans 10:9-10 KJV

By believing upon Jesus Christ, His sacrificial death, His burial, and His resurrection from the dead, you can receive the gift of eternal life, and secure your heavenly home.

But I must warn you – If you choose to reject His gift, you will face a holy God as a sinner. He will pass judgment against you for breaking His law, and you’ll receive the consequences in an eternal lake of fire.

However, if you choose to believe God’s Word, will you pray to Him now? Acknowledge that you are a sinner, repent of your sin, and invite Him to come live inside of you. Receive His gift and make Him Lord of your life today.

In Christ,
Dad
